Lantern Festival | January 27−February 6, 2022
The Kennedy Center presents The REACH Winter Lanterns. The REACH glows again for Lunar New Year with a free display of stunning lanterns, all crafted by Chinese artisans. Celebrate the Year of the Tiger with colorful creatures and flowers across the campus. On display nightly at the Kennedy Center REACH outdoor spaces.
Let’s ring in the Year of the Tiger! Celebrate Lunar New Year online with the Smithsonian American Art Museum (SAAM) and the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the United States of America. We are excited to present this beloved annual celebration online this year. Enjoy streamed video performances of dances, acrobatics, and yo-yo tricks by the Madison Chinese Dance Academy.Watch demonstrations of traditional Chinese crafting and Lunar New Year traditions, including the classic lion dance. There is fun for the whole family during this special celebration! Explore more activities on SAAM’s Lunar New Year Family Zone, including coloring pages, crafts, and videos about this celebration.
This program is presented in partnership with the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America and part of Lunar New Year DC, organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
