Join us as Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center Executive Director Kathleen Ridolfo discusses how the center brings Oman alive in the U.S. and shares insights into the rich beauty and history of the Sultanate.
The Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center (SQCC) is dedicated to educating 
the people of the United States and Oman about the breadth and richness of our two cultures SQCC promotes mutual respect and understanding between our nations and strives to educate a new 
generation of culturally sensitive and knowledgeable citizens in each society. Through outreach programs, scholarships, lectures, educational resources, and cultural partnerships our Cultural Center in 
Washington, DC, brings the culture, history, and heritage of our nation to audiences in the US and abroad.
Educational Resources
Our resources include the Indian Ocean in World History website that offers its signature maps, lesson plans, quizzes, trivia and much more free of charge and without the need to sign up. SQCC is also proud to 
offer two craft activities for younger audiences. The first is the "Flat Omani" project, which aims to educate younger audiences about traditional dress in Oman and the rest of the Arab world. The second craft activity is suitable for all ages 4 and up, and is the "Majmar" project.
Research Fellowship Program
In 2010, SQCC established its Research Fellowship Program which aims to promote and cultivate scholarly research about Oman across several academic disciplines. The Fellowship is open to PhD candidates and university academics who are US citizens or affiliated with an American university and funds one scholar or team of scholars to carry out research in Oman each year
Arabic Classes
The Arabic program at SQCC incorporates the most current trends in Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL), while placing emphasis on using the language holistically in a culturally appropriate context.

Kathleen Ridolfo
Ms. Ridolfo joined the Washington, D.C.-based Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center as Executive Director in 2011. Prior to joining SQCC, she was a Senior Lecturer with Leader Development and Education for Sustained Peace (LDESP) at the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, CA. In this capacity, she provided graduate level pre-deployment training to the senior leaders in the U.S. Army deploying to the Middle East. From 2002-2008 she worked as a Regional Analyst for Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) in Prague, covering Iraq's political, economic, and social developments for the daily publication, RFE/RL Newsline, and the weekly RFE/RL Iraq Report. Prior to joining RFE/RL, she worked as a Research Assistant focusing on Iraq and Iran at the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS), National Defense University in Washington, D.C. From 1998-2000, she lived in the West Bank, where she worked with Palestinian NGOs on democracy-building initiatives. She has published extensively on the subjects of politics, the media, and civil unrest in the Middle East. Ms. Ridolfo has a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of New Hampshire and an M.A in Arab Studies from Georgetown University's Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service.
